Therottle

What happens to a Solais lamp when it is installed in a situation that causes it to get hotter than intended?

Solais lamps are designed to operate cooler than most LED replacement lamps on the market. With our Luxiance technology, we actively cool our LED systems removing heat more efficiently than passive cooling. This allows us to produce more light output at lower wattages and keep the weight of our replacement lamp at a minimum.

The active cooling also allows us to use our lamps in situations that are prohibited to most passively cooled LED replacement lamps. Our lamps can be used in most recessed down lights without an adverse effect to our lamp. However, there are so many different recessed housings and trims out there that it is not possible to test our lamps in them all.

If a Solais replacement lamp is installed in a housing that does not allow the active cooling to properly operate, our lamps utilize the patent pending Therottle technology. Therottle will gradually dim the Solais replacement lamp regulating the LED temperature to within acceptable limits, thereby preserving the LED life and other components. If the situation that caused the overheating was temporary, then the Therottle would bring the LED gradually back to full brightness once the situation was resolved.
