The new iPhone app supports Solais’ efforts in promoting the savings and environmental benefits of switching from traditional lighting sources to LEDs. This new app is an extension of Solais’ online calculator (www.solaislighting.com/energy-cal.php) and is a quick and easy way for users to make calculations while on the road, on-site or from the comfort of their own homes. The app provides a simple conversion tool for users to calculate the potential cost savings from replacing a traditional lamp (halogen, CMH or CFL) with a Solais LED replacement lamp (LR38, LR30LN or LR30). The output generated shows the user an in-depth analysis of total savings, retrofit cost, air conditioning savings and payback period. In addition to monetary savings, the calculator also computes the impact your retrofit will have on the environment, including: energy usage savings (kWh), CO2 emissions reduction (pounds), equivalent gas saved (gallons), equivalent waste recycled (tons), equivalent planting of forests (acres), equivalent cars removed from the road, and equivalent houses supplied with electricity.Solais is also working on a Droid™ app that will be available in September.
