Solais Featured in Newburyport News For New Clean Tech Location

Katie Farrell Lovett from Newburyport News (a local news agency based in Newburyport, Massachusetts) covered the official opening of Solais Lighting’s new Clean Tech location. The ceremony was attended by many city leaders, elected officials and Steve Johnson, PhD, Chief Technology Officer of Solais. The article covered many aspects of the eco-friendly building and the importance of having Clean Tech companies occupying the space, as outlined below: “Once open, the center will provide resources to startup businesses that are developing solutions to environmental issues and are focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The businesses that join the center must substantially meet one of the “green requirements,” such as saving energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality, shifting dependence away from fossil fuels, or reducing toxic chemicals from food supply or the environment. City leaders and elected officials visited the Clean Tech Center for a presentation on the facility yesterday. They were joined by Massachusetts Housing and Economic Development Secretary Gregory Bialecki, who was given a tour of the office space by Solais chief technical officer Steve Johnson, who showed Bialecki one of their lamp models. Solais, which began one year ago and is headquartered in Connecticut, designs and builds LED lamps. Johnson, who is based in Newburyport, works with engineers in Worcester and Lynnfield. He was told of the plans for the Clean Tech Center by Currier, Johnson said.”To read the full Newburyport News article, click here.
