Manhattan High-Rise Main Lobby With 28-Foot Ceilings

A New York City high-rise main lobby looked to replace its 150-watt T4 quartz lamps with an LED solution that drastically lowers energy consumption, while increasing average foot-candle values.

The Solais LR38 lamp, delivering 1600 lumens at only 24 watts - this actively cooled PAR38 LED lamp replacement is the only lamp of its kind capable of upgrading the high-wattage quartz lamp on a true 1:1 basis.

The Solais LED solution saved 84% of energy costs and tremendously reduced maintenance costs. The upgrade also provided much more sustained performance, while increasing the average illuminance on the floor from 23 foot-candles to 25-foot-candles - allowing the building to realize immediate energy savings and desired light levels.

The 6-inch recessed housing used in this application is only 65% efficient in emitting the light from the fixture. This results in only 1820 of the 2800 total lamp lumens actually exiting the fixture. The high ceiling further hinders the diffused light from reaching the floor below.

The directional Solais LR38 lamp is 90% efficient in the recessed housing of this application and successfully increases the average light levels with fewer lumens. This is clearly shown above as brighter and more even colors in the Solais solution.
